This song was inspired by acts of discrimination faced by members of the Tacoma Refugee Choir and many refugees who call our community home.

We see you, we hear you, we love you, we stand with you.

Dearest Refugees,

This is my love letter to say I’ve got your back,

I’m standing here with you through every attack.

No matter what the haters say

I’m glad you’re here to make your way.

Don’t let the pain keep you down.

You are strong,

You belong,

You belong.

What is World Refugee Day?
On World Refugee Day, held every year on June 20th, the world honors the strength, courage and perseverance of millions of refugees who are forcibly displaced from their homes.
2020 Theme:
Every Action Counts.

"The COVID-19 pandemic and the recent anti-racism protests have shown us how desperately we need to fight for a more inclusive and equal world: a world where no one is left behind. It has never been clearer that all of us have a role to play in order to bring about change. Everyone can make a difference. This year, we aim to remind the world that everyone, including refugees, can contribute to society and Every Action Counts in the effort to create a more just, inclusive, and equal world."
- Excerpt from the United Nations
