What does home mean to you?
“I'd like to build the world a home
And furnish it with love
Grow apple trees and honey bees
And snow white turtle doves”
“I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing” by The New Seekers
What is “home”? Home can mean many things to many people. Home can be a good memory or a dreaded place. Home can be a place you want to escape to, or it can be a place you want to escape from. If your home is not what you need it to be, you can create your own home. Creating a home can be a gradual process, and sometimes you don’t know where home is until you need it the most.
We believe home is more than a physical roof over your head. This is the idea behind our Fundraiser, “Creating Home Together.” Tacoma Refugee Choir offers a space where all who attend can feel at home; where we feel connection, safety, love and belonging. We create home together as we foster an environment that celebrates our differences and emphasizes the importance of love. Home can be your family or the people you turn to when times are darkest.
With your help, we can create home together as we create spaces for authentic expression, interconnection, and healing through song and music. Please join us by tuning in for our virtual concert and silent auction, Creating Home Together, on November 14th at 6:00pm. The event is free and will be broadcast on Facebook and YouTube. Pre-registration is encouraged but not required. We hope to see you there!
