About the Event

Tacoma Refugee Choir will be singing at this World Refugee Day event organized by refugees.

World Refugee Day is an international day organized every year on 20 June by the United Nations. It is designed to celebrate and honor refugees from around the world. The day was first established on 20 June 2001, in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees. Building upon refugee resilience and their contribution in the development of the US, Refugee Congress in partnership with the KCLS and other partners in Washington State, organized the 2022 World Refugee Day event which will feature refugee and immigrant performances including the Tacoma Refugee Choir, West African Dance, Poetry, music and more. The event is centered in bringing refugees, immigrants, and the refugee services providers together. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with their fellows, test the amazing food prepared by refugee owned restaurants representing food from across the world. Additional activities will include about 10 different refugee led organizatios showcasing their services. FREE
