The Heart of Tacoma Festival

To our venue and every vendor, sponsor, staff member, performance act, and guest, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making the first ever Heart of Tacoma Festival such a phenomenal one! Here's a sneak peek!

This FREE fun all-ages music festival centered on healing and coming together as a community and included interactive activities such as group dance instruction, karaoke, singalong and games. We had performances,  food trucks, vendors, a 38-foot canoe, and so much more!

Overview

The Heart of Tacoma Festival was a new interactive festival centered on bringing people together. Building upon the success of last year's sold-out Drive-In Concert, Tacoma Refugee Choir in partnership with Greentrike, and Tacoma Arts Live and other partners, featured music, dance and activities including a showcase of students from local schools and an interactive performance by Tacoma Refugee Choir. Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in African dance, learn a Ukrainian song, sing along with a Latin band, learn a Hawaiian dance, sing karaoke, and play games. Additional activities included over 60 vendors, food trucks, and children’s activities. The event opened with a beautiful song and story from the Tahoma Indian Center and attendees were able to take pictures in their 38-foot canoe. We later invited all guests to participate in a Love Train miniature parade that walked the 10-foot Heart of Tacoma mobile sculpture created by artist Steve LaBerge around the field.
